Creating the perfect logo: the basics for getting started
by Kim Lavine
What makes a perfect logo?
Keep it simple and make it memorable using these simple steps.
Keep it simple
A great logo is anything you can see once, close your eyes and see in your mind. An example may be the retailer Target’s logo, which is not only visually effective, but also expresses the name of the company itself.
Use it to Brand Everything
Once you’ve created an effective logo, you can eventually use it to brand an infinite list of products which you may or may not make. This is where the real value of your company may be hiding, in its Intellectual Property (IP).
Make it Stand Out
Start by picking out your PMS colors. Short for Pantone Matching System, these numbers represent a standardized ink color system used in the printing industry. Once you create your logo, go to a local printer and match your colors to their PMS chart and write them down so you can make sure all your advertising collateral matches, regardless of the printer or application.
